A true crowd-pleasing Grüner that’s very versatile and food-friendly, the H. & M. Hofer 2010 Freiberg Grüner Veltliner is a thirst quenching certified-organic Grüner from Niederösterreich region, Austria. This beautiful wine is in such limited quality due to high demand that we were only able to obtain 5 cases. Please stop by tomorrow Sat from 5-7pm for this special tasting!
This Certified-Organic Gruner has a transparent straw color with fresh, tart lime and wet stones; “rainwater over rocks” minerality, citrus fruit, white pepper and fresh acidity in a very long finish. Simple, balanced, interesting and refreshing, and that’s a splendid payoff for a bargain price of $14. Packaged in a fat 1-liter bottle with a beer-bottle-style “crown cap”.
Versatile and food-friendly, this Gruner finds its match in a wide variety of dishes, with a special facility for freshwater fish and “white meats” from chicken to veal. It’s also a go-to wine for Southeast Asian and Pacific Rim cuisine, and went very nicely with a spicy Thai Yum Neua beef salad.
