The Carrel family has been rooted in the Jongieux hillside above Lac du Bourget since 1830, and their Altitude 1161 Pétillant Blanc is a testament to what the Alps can do with bubbles. Made from Jacquère — the crisp, floral indigenous grape of Savoie — by méthode traditionnelle with 24 months on lees, it offers fine, persistent bubbles, delicate floral and mineral aromas, and a clean, refreshing finish that cuts right through alpine cheese or anything off the grill. An undersung alternative to Champagne from one of France's most characterful mountain appellations.
