Domaine Marcel Richaud Cotes du Rhone Rouge Bulbille

Bulbille — French for "young bud" — was conceived by Claire Richaud in 2019 as an experimental cuvée at her family's celebrated Cairanne estate, with a clear mission: make a wine that stays fresh even in the relentlessly hot Southern Rhône. At Domaine Marcel Richaud, one of the region's most influential organic producers, Counoise leads the blend (contributing low alcohol and bright fruit), with Grenache for Rhône typicity and Cinsault for acidity. The three grapes are harvested early and co-vinified via semi-carbonic maceration in concrete vats, pulling maximum fruit and crunch from sandy terroir soils in Cairanne. The result sits at the border of red and rosé — juicy, buoyant, raspberry- and cherry-driven, with a lively acid finish that makes it one of the most genuinely refreshing red wines in the shop. Serve with a light chill.
