Faccia Brutto Amaro Gorini

Lena Pianta, the producer's grandmother, inspired the creation of this amaro. She enjoyed southern Italian spirits, and this one would have made it onto her bar cart. 13 botanicals, including gentian, rhubarb root, fennel seed, and sweet and bitter orange, rest in non-GMO neutral grain spirit for 3 weeks. The blend is proofed to 40% ABV and barrel aged in used whiskey barrels for at least three months.

When it's ready, it is filtered from the barrels and sweetened with organic cane sugar and caramel color. A final addition of more fresh orange peel and it is left alone for several days. It's strained once more and bottled.
