Ferdinando Principiano farms 21 hectares across Monforte d'Alba and Serralunga d'Alba with an emphasis on biodiversity and natural viticulture — his estate is as much a botanical sanctuary as a winery. The Boscareto is his single-vineyard Barolo, sourced from vines over 40 years old grown on the mineral-rich soils of Serralunga. The 2008 vintage produced restrained, aromatic Barolos of remarkable perfume and precision — this one opens with leather, menthol, ripe cherry, blackberry, and eucalyptus, with a structured palate of classic Nebbiolo tannins and a long, mineral finish.
