Fogscape Vineyards farms their own estate in the Arroyo Seco AVA — a compact, undersung appellation in Monterey County where the Santa Lucia Mountains cast shade over rocky alluvial soils threaded with river pebbles and Lockwood shale. Winemaker José Ramírez vinifies each block separately in stainless steel before blending, resulting in up to ten distinct fermentations that are artfully assembled into the final wine. The result is a silky, medium-bodied Pinot of real character: floral aromatics, crushed red cherries, ripe cranberry, and blackberry, with a complex palate and a long, persistent finish — a compelling value from one of California's most quietly rewarding appellations.
