Niepoort Tawny Port

Brick red shading to tawny, with delicate nutty aromas and a hint of dried fruit; well balanced on the palate, still youthful and luscious, with a long spirity finish. No sediment, no decanting, and it keeps for weeks after opening — the bottle you can leave on the counter and return to.

Tawny Port is about oxidation and time. The grapes are predominantly trodden in lagares, then the wine spends around three and a half years in small old casks at the Gaia lodges, with freshness, lightness, and balance as the stated goals.

Food pairing: Crème brûlée or leite creme, almond tart, dried figs and walnuts, aged Gouda, or an espresso alongside.
