Founded in 1859 by Antoine Ogier in the town of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Maison Ogier is one of the Southern Rhône's most established houses, with over 160 years of history and a portfolio anchored in the appellation's diverse terroirs. L'Âme — "the soul" — is their organic Châteauneuf-du-Pape rouge, drawing from two of the appellation's most prized soil types: galets roulés (the famous rolled pebbles that store heat and radiate it into the vines at night) and safres (sandy soils that produce finer-grained, more elegant tannins). The Grenache-led blend delivers dark plum, black cherry, sultana, mocha, cocoa, and a backbone of Provençal herbs and garrigue, with well-integrated tannins and a long, warm finish. Cellar-worthy for 5–10 years, but approachable now after an hour's decanting.
Food Pairings: Braised lamb shoulder, beef daube Provençal, wild boar, duck confit, aged Comté, truffle dishes
