Langhe Nebbiolo is the appellation for wines made from Piedmont's greatest red grape outside the stricter production zones of Barolo and Barbaresco — offering Nebbiolo's signature character at an earlier-drinking stage and a more accessible price. Nebbiolo is one of the world's most distinctive red varieties: pale garnet in color but surprisingly powerful in structure, with soaring natural acidity, firm tannins, and an aromatic profile unique among reds — roses, violets, tar, dried cherries, and dried herbs. This 2017 vintage, presented in a 1.5-liter magnum, has had the benefit of several years of cellar time in a larger-format bottle (which ages more slowly and evenly than a standard 750ml), bringing the wine to a generous, harmonious expression.
