Song Cai Distillery Floral Gin

Sông Cái Distillery, founded in 2018 by Daniel Nguyen, is Vietnam's first gin distillery, located in Hanoi, Vietnam. The distillery's mission is to add value to the native grains, botanicals, and microbes prevalent in local communities. Inspired by indigenous highland communities, including the H'Mong, Dao, H're, and Ca Dong, Sông Cái creates gins that tell the story of botanicals native to Vietnam, reflecting local terroir while supporting biodiversity and a greater variety of farmers.

Sông Cái's gins are bold and complex, bursting with spice, acidity, and umami throughout. More than 20 different herbs, fruits, barks, roots, and flowers—often hand-foraged—are incorporated into the gins. The botanicals are harvested at peak maturity and processed in the manner of their respective local communities, grouped by their flavor profiles and volatility, macerated in neutral spirit, and separately distilled in direct-fire alembic copper pot stills before blending and bottling.

The Floral Gin is a contemporary dry gin that celebrates native Vietnamese flora with pomelo blossom, jasmine, ylang ylang, ngọc lan (white jade orchid), and móng rồng (tail grape) botanicals, among others. The gin has a lush palate of jasmine pearls, orange peel, pink peppercorn, and elderflower with pomelo peel, bee pollen, and a touch of tropical lychee sweetness on the finish.
