Primitivo — genetically identical to California's Zinfandel — is Puglia's signature red grape, thriving in the sun-drenched heel of Italy's boot where long, hot summers produce fruit of remarkable ripeness and concentration. Tratturi's Puglia IGT Primitivo is a generous, warm-climate red built in the variety's natural idiom: deep ruby-purple in the glass, with dense plum, black cherry, dark spice, and a hint of chocolate on the nose, and a full-bodied, velvet-textured palate with ripe tannins and a long, warming finish. The name "tratturi" refers to the ancient transhumance routes that crisscross Puglia — a nod to the land's deep agricultural heritage.
