The Camino de Navaherreros Blanco is a dry white wine that feels round and full, with notes of wild flowers, honey, stone fruit, and citrus. It is a blend centered around the indigenous Albillo Real–a grape known for its perfumed aromas and capability for making smooth wines. The grapes were fermented in different types of barrels: used oak barrels, large oak vats, and stainless steel. The wines continue aging in their fermentation vessels, some undergoing malolactic fermentation and some received no malo–contingent on taste.
Food Pairing: fresh mussels, scallops, pan-seared white fish, roasted chicken, Spanish jamon, cured charcuteries, fennel salad, crunchy vegetables, soft cheeses.
From the Importer: "The Sierra de Gredos is quickly becoming a zone of high reputation and is much sought after by adventurous wine lovers and connoisseurs alike. This rising popularity for the wines is indeed justified. The area has an amazing mix of decomposed granite and schist all located at high altitudes in a classic Mediterranean alpine forest. The dry heat with cool nights and just enough rainfall to keep the classic Mediterranean fauna flourishing…think wild thyme, rosemary, figs, and fennel all extremely aromatic and full of flavor…is of course also perfect for wine grapes.
Bernabelva was a pioneer who put Gredos on the radar of many now-famous names in Spain and the zone – names like Raul Perez, Dani Landi, and more. Bernabeleva was a founding partner in Comando G (now only Dani Landi and Fernando Garcia) the goal of which was to help bring more attention to the zone. The first wines of Comando G were made at Bernabeleva."
