Las Jaras Slipper Sippers Nouveau

Las Jaras Slipper Sippers, a blend of Zinfandel and Petite Sirah, expresses a vivid palate of raspberry, red plum, boysenberry, with a faint cocoa-powder tannin that keeps it from reading as candy. Serve with a real chill.

Nouveau is always the first wine of the vintage at Las Jaras — a California nod to Beaujolais, where the tradition of carbonic maceration and immediate release began. Joel Burt and Eric Wareheim pick early, in late August, to keep acidity high and sugar low, then layer techniques across lots — some carbonic, some destemmed, some partially bled — because they don't like one-note wines.
