Piantaferro Intrigo Nero D'Avola Sicilia

Piantaferro is a line of wines produced by Rinomata Cantina Tombacco, a Veneto-based house with roots going back to 1919, specifically designed to showcase the distinctive regional character of Italian varieties in their native terroirs. The Intrigo is their Sicilian expression: a Nero d'Avola-dominant blend sourced from the island and vinified in stainless steel, with malolactic fermentation followed by 4–8 months of aging before release. Nero d'Avola — named after the town of Avola in Sicily's far southeast — produces wines of deep ruby color, warm dark fruit, and surprisingly approachable tannins. Intrigo delivers blueberry, dark cherry, vanilla, balsamic, and baking spice, with velvety structure and a pleasant licorice note on the finish.
