Zidianakis Semissis

A layered aromatic wine that features jasmine, ripe fleshy peach, and subtle notes of pear and butter on the nose. On the palate, you'll experience a journey that reveals dry floral notes amid minerality, orchard fruit, and slight salinity. This is a balanced wine with acidity harmonizing with a refreshing aftertaste.

The grapes are cold-soaked before fermenting at moderately cold temperatures in stainless steel. The final blend rests on the lees for several months, impacting texture and depth. The grapes are grown in the Pezá region of Crete (PDO), benefiting from high-altitude vineyards and cool breezes that help develop aromatic fruit and balanced acidity. Semissis is the name of the ancient Btyzantine coin, a symbol of value and quality.

Zidianakis Garage Winery is a small operation in Greece, where most of the production is performed by hand. They hand-harvest and hand-press the grapes rather than rely on machinery. Their ethos is to work to the benefit of the land as the land benefits us, thus significantly reducing their carbon footprint.
