Hermann J. Wiemer Field White

Hermann J. Wiemer founded his Seneca Lake estate in 1976, drawing on his Mosel heritage and the conviction that Finger Lakes terroir could produce world-class vinifera wines. Today, the winery is run by Fred Merwarth and Oskar Bynke, who carry forward that ethos with obsessive attention to the vineyard. The Field White is their everyday expression of the estate's white wine philosophy: a blend of young-vine Grüner Veltliner with Riesling and Chardonnay — all estate fruit, whole-cluster pressed, fermented with indigenous yeasts. The result is lithe and textured, with citrus, mineral notes, and a refreshing brightness that captures exactly what Finger Lakes white wine should taste like.
