The 2017 Nebbiolo Superiore Prünent is elegant and finessed, in a style that offers all the weightless silkiness of Alto Piemonte wines, but with enough flesh to give the wine racy curves and tons of immediate appeal. Rose petal, mint, sweet dried cherry, licorice and star anise build as it shows off its pedigree. Those who love Piedmont wines won’t want to miss this one. It is such a gorgeous, detailed, mind-bending wine.
Prünent is a local biotype of Nebbiolo from which it is believed the rest of the Nebbiolo in Piedmont evolved. The bunches are more compact and cylindrical than the Nebbiolo grown elsewhere. Each bottle has a symbol on the label, the Prunent has the a grape on the label as the Prunent is the most prized grape of the region.
